These two are really in their element causing chaos and it’s one reason I love them together. Roman has been behaving himself so much with PGM and they’re about to get a real dose of Roman Roy, so that’ll be fun.
The pet names were a surprise to me as I wrote, but I’m actually super fond of them now because Jeryd’s absolutely that guy but especially because it’s gonna drive Roman totally crazy.
Yeah, I laughed at “whatever, just let her write whatever number she wants into the blank check, I got you, honey” too. Jeryd is not looking at this with nearly that kind of laissez-faire attitude, but while he’s got a lot of money he does not have that kind of Fuck You money. Jeryd will have to start coming to terms with Roman spending an absurd amount of money on him now that they’re out in general.
I really enjoyed that chapter, I’m glad other people did too <3

Kelvin has a very busy day full of work. Keefe takes advantage of the opportunity to do some teasing and cause some good trouble for himself.

I have a lot of the future events of YKW just rattling around in my head, actually. Jeryd’s political career, Kenstewy having a daughter together and Sophie being grownish, Josh backing Shiv to create a political consulting firm.
I mentioned in another ask my thoughts on DTL followup; sorry I got to them first, lol.
Collected I think comes down to a couple of things - first of all, Ken and Stewy are definitely entangled in something at the end of the fic, so that’s something that I would look into. Secondly, just revisiting Roman and Lukas again to find their dynamic not perfect but ultimately content. What I like about them is that they click, but that it’s not at all perfect and they do clash.

I love that group too. I think if I were to go back to them it would be exploring Kenstewy as new parents and both them and Romencken dealing with the 10th anniversary of the events of strung-out. Also I want to check in on Shiv, who I think will at that point be a surprise young mother after a young marriage. Anything to establish a life away from Logan.
Roman was never part of the competition - but we knew that, didn’t we. The thing is, he could never compete because he was part of the prize.
Logan objectified Roman. He was a good dog, if he was kept in line. He would attack or fix or approach problems with a single-mindedness, without ego getting in the way, unlike the other three. He was so desperate to please Logan rather than actually assure himself of his greatness - because he definitely didn’t believe that he was great, no matter the bluster.
This is useful. We talk about Logan using Roman as bait for people like Eduard, Matsson, Mencken - but that implies that the winner takes him along with them. This is why Mencken’s active interest in Roman is a threat to Kendall. Roman is his dog.
In the end, Kendall does win Roman as his property, whether Roman likes it or not, until it all falls apart.
This is more to the people who’ve been around for a while, but - if I were to write a short follow-up of any of the fics or series I’ve completed, what would you want to see? Askbox is open for anyone with thoughts.
Ch 8 of “the beauty of a secret”, Roman/Mencken. After the sale of Waystar Royco, Roman takes ownership and CEO of PGM while Jeryd’s political ambitions fall apart, and the two reconnect despite their estrangement to form an intense relationship. In this chapter, they come out, and the world only just starts to react.
Just under 12k on a chapter of “the beauty of a secret” and I’m finished. They’re coming out, so it’s a lot in a lot of different ways, but with wrinkles I don’t think anyone is expecting. I’ll be editing and posting tomorrow.

There are basically two versions of the politics AU at this point - one where Roman is dating Nate while running Jeryd’s campaign and desperately trying to not have to break up with his boyfriend because his boss is so hot, and another where it’s really just the two of them. Roman/Nate fascinates me, but also the idea of a version of Roman who has excused stress and sexual dysfunction with working so hard that he builds a huge professional reputation, remaining a virgin even while in a hardcore profession, and finding Jeryd as a candidate who just shatters all that armor with so much as the right look - that’s nice too.

Oh, I suppose not everyone knows about NaNoWriMo - it’s National Novel Writing Month, which I’m pretty sure is nearing its 20th year? Basically the premise is to write every day on a novel for the entirety of the month of November and get at least 50k words completed. I’m being unconventional in also working on unrelated projects, but I really work best with having options rather than being hemmed into one single project. I didn’t like how it felt to be totally isolated with the romance novel when I did that earlier this year, and I didn’t achieve nearly as much as you’d think given my usual output.
Anyway, enough rambling about that - thank you <3<3 I love every opportunity to write them, too!

Has it? The dribs and drabs I’ve seen have intrigued me, ngl. Izzy/Lucius is interesting - I’m actually a huge Izzy fan, which I suspect would surprise no one who has passing knowledge of what I do and who I am - though I’m sure there’s more basis than before. I’ll file it back, thank you <3 <3
A few things:
- I’m starting a OFMD rewatch, just to see if it sparks everything it did last time before I commit to watching S2. I’m not sure I’m particularly skilled at writing anyone in the cast, so that’s not really the goal. I’m just catching up on my silly little pirate show.
- I’ve officially signed up for NaNo but don’t intend to stop writing fic in the midst of it, though I know that sounds absolutely bananas to do. I just know what it’s like when I take on one singular project, it’s not good for my productivity or creativity - so it’ll be 5 projects in November with NaNo attached, down to 4 as soon as Vampire AU ends in 2 chapters. I basically only expect to get 50k of what will have to be a much longer novel done in November, but it’s nice to have the motivation to finally fix this piece.
- Yes, I am aware I just said I’ll write 50k of a novel and update fics on some kind of regular schedule. I try not to think too hard about numbers on my output.
-Oh, about halfway through a chapter of “the beauty of a secret.” If you think you’re ready for it, you’re probably not.
- I don’t say it enough but I love everyone who drops by my AO3 page or my blog, from those of you who tease out scenarios with me to those who just drop in to say hi.

I think initially the response would be insecurity. Roman’s self-image is being rebuilt but it’s still pretty dire, and the concept that Jeryd is attracted to and would chase something with someone else would initially make him shut down and have some of his worse self-talk come into play. So there might be a rough day in there, but then he’d see how freeing it is for Stewy to be dommed by Jeryd, and realize that this is - as is true in many polyam situations - both Stewy and Jeryd finding something in each other that Roman can’t provide, and he’d realize that A) he doesn’t want to get in the way of that and B) he wants them both to be happy even if it feels pathetic to think so.

Jeryd is gonna fall straight into calling Roman “babe” all of the time, because he’s so ridiculously fond that he can’t see past how much he adores Roman. I can see Stewy just dropping something like petnames left and right but I think he’ll wind up settling on “honey” for Roman just because it feels more playful, which is something they’re both hoping to cultivate.
As for Stewy and Jeryd, I think they’ll have a weird time with this kind of affection, but I can absolutely see Jeryd doubling and tripling down on being a sweet dom and calling Stewy “gorgeous” during scenes to the point that it’ll trigger Stewy into a more pliable state even outside of scenes. Stewy will definitely fall for Jeryd, but part of him will hold back affectionate things like this because he still thinks of Jeryd as a friend primarily. Eventually Jeryd will bug him about it and Stewy will let slip the only word that he really thinks of in conjunction to Jeryd is (still polyamorous) “mine.” That’ll do.
